Odd Dreams

When I was seven or eight, I got the entire set of the Famous Five books for Christmas, by famed racist Enid Blyton. I was going through them like wildfire, and at some point I got it into my head that I wanted to meet the author.

I did not, at this point, know that she had been dead for roughly thirty years.

One night I had a dream in which I met her, along with one of my friends at the time, who was similarly a big fan of the author. What was odd was that we were on the outside of a 'spaceship'; and by spaceship, I mean a flat metal thing. We also lacked suits; an apparent lack of knowledge of the vacuum on my part.

The ship itself was pieced together by several of these odd metal sheets, which were probably a foot or so thick. They were bonded together, not by nuts and bolts or solder, but by a long line of Opal Fruits - now known as Starburst.

When I was only four or five, I had a dream where I was going to school under a freakishly apocalyptic sky; a mixture of red, brown and black replaced the usual daylight I was accustomed to. Everyone seemed to be acting almost like zombies, walking mindlessly in lines. When I arrived at the school, I went in via a fictional entrance that took you through the boys' cloakroom and toilets.

The entire room was flooded. And by flooded, I mean, floor to ceiling was full of water. Someone who I did not know was swimming about, looking at me. My opening the door to get in did not make any water escape the room.

At one point I remember just a dream of an image; a field of lilac-like flowers. Towards the back was a power plant churning out smoke into the air. This dream was also roughly at the same time as the previous one I mentioned; long before I knew much, if anything, about the dangers of pollution.

In one dream more recently - about a year ago - I dreamt that insect-like monster aliens had come and were destroying my town. My dad, my sister and I were trapped in some building by two of the things. At one point, my dad decided he'd distract them so we could escape. When he went outside, the things attacked him, knocking an adjacent car, causing it to explode and kill him (and possibly the alien things).

When I woke up, I spent about three seconds in a panic because I thought my dad was dead.

Then I realised it was a dream and went back to sleep.
